资源简介:
These are the anonymised data extracted from institutional policy and risk assessment documents that were analysed in Mair et al. (2025) Improving university policies and risk assessment to support inclusive fieldwork in environmental sciences. Ecological Solutions and Evidence.Out of 117 higher education institutions in the UK that offer subjects within the environmental sciences, we were able to retrieve (through online searches and FOI requests) fieldwork policy, guidance or risk assessment documents for 90 institutions. Our aim was to understand the extent to which Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is considered in institutional fieldwork policy and risk assessments. We therefore systematically extracted data on the content of documents in relation to protected characteristics, the rights of fieldworkers, and the responsibilities for fieldworker safety. The data available here are (i) an anonymised record of institutional responses, indicating whether policy and/or risk assessment documents were obtained, (ii) coded data extracted from fieldwork policy or guidance documents, and (iii) coded data extracted from fieldwork risk assessments. Most codes are self explanatory (0=no, 1=yes). Where "USHA" is documented, this indicates that the institution referred to University Health and Safety Association fieldwork guidance, rather than providing their own institutional fieldwork policy. Where the document specified the responsibilities for fieldwork safety, these were extracted as F = fieldworker, M = line manager, I = institution, and any combination therefore. Please see the published paper for full methodological details.
