Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide, which can be induced by excessive glucocorticoids (GCs) exposure. In this study, we use both in vivo and in vitro models of GCs-induced hepatic lipid accumulation in the chicken and demonstrate that the activation of lipogenic genes and accumulation of lipid in liver cells are mediated by GR-dependent FTO transactivation and diminished m6A on mRNA of lipogenic genes.
