Training With Transects On Woodlot - YorkU

This data was collected on a relatively sunny day in the woodlot located on York University’s campus. The purpose was to examine 10 pair of trees by gathering data about these specific trees and then trying to identify them. It was collected with a lab partner who wrote the data while the instructor measured. A transect was used to gather this data and typically an approximation of the measurement was recorded. Furthermore, the scale was in feet and the participants (trees) are non mobile. The data was collected by going from a pair of trees to another pair. When approaching a pair of trees, first measure its diameter by bringing the transect to breast level and approximating the width of the tree. Then, decided on adult vs. young based on your height and rank the tree for its condition. Finally measure the distance between the two trees and follow the same procedure on the second tree.
