Genomic Analysis of CTX-M-Producing Clinical Escherichia coli Isolates from Bangladesh.

To our knowledge, we carried out this first ESBL-E. coli WGS study in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Herein, we report the findings of a genomic epidemiological investigation of recent ESBL-E. coli isolates, especially CTX-M-type ESBL producers, from patients with extraintestinal infections. We analyzed their resistance genes, virulence genes, plasmid types, and phylogenetic relatedness. Studies such as these will provide important insights into the evolution of pathogens and inform novel interventional strategies.
