This study is a longitudinal survey designed to track premarital couples in South Korea over an extended period, spanning several decades. The first wave of the survey has been completed, and the second wave is currently ongoing (as of November, 2023). The survey for Wave 1 took approximately one hour to complete, whereas the survey for Wave 2 is designed to be shorter, taking about 15 minutes. [Procedure] In 2022 (Wave 1), we recruited 598 premarital couples who were planning to marry within the next six months. These participants were gathered from various sources, including internet wedding communities, Instagram, and YouTube. Both members of a dyad were required to complete a survey, after which they were compensated with a 20,000 KRW (approximately 15 USD) coffee coupon e-gift card. If only one partner completed it, their response was not included in the study, and they did not receive the compensation. This condition was clearly communicated to all participants during the consent process. At the start of the survey, each couple provided their relationship start date and a unique password, known only to them. This information was used to accurately match the couples in the study. In instances where there were discrepancies in passwords or relationship start dates, couples were successfully matched after additional follow-up communication. All participants provided their consent through an electronic written form.
