Code and data for: Global Drivers of Scientific and Public Interest in Birds and their Conservation

This repository contains the core analytical code and compiled dataset accompanying the manuscript "Global Drivers of Scientific and Public Interest in Birds and their Conservation" . The study investigates the drivers of public and scientific interest across 10,509 bird species, and tests the causal effect of IUCN Red List category updates on public attention using a quasi-experimental design. Contents:- baseline_interest.R — GLMMs of public and scientific interest, including baseline models, clade-specific models, and relative interest models- quasi_experimental.R — Difference-in-Differences analysis of IUCN Red List category updates, magnitude and genuineness sub-models, and meta-regression- bird_dataset_traits_final_checked.csv — Compiled species-level dataset (11,185 species) integrating morphological, ecological, cultural, and attention metrics License:Code: MIT.
