Whole genome sequencing of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa

The CRPA strains were obtained from a tertiary education teaching hospital in Malaysia. These isolates were tested against cefiderocol, an antibiotic found to be effective in the treatment of infections caused by multidrug resistant gram-negative bacteria including CRPA. However, these strains exhibited resistance towards the novel cephalosporin. Hence, the application of WGS was utilized to identify and understand the possible mechanisms that could result in their resistance towards the antibiotic.
