Escherichia coli BW25113 Variation

The goal of this study is to map genetic changes that correlate with spontaneous rescue of slow growth (in M9 glucose medium) of five E. coli mutants in which single genes have been disrupted: ppk, zwf, entC, dapF, dgk. All five of these strains exhibit slow growth in M9 glucose. We isolated multiple mutants in which the slow growth phenotype of these five primary mutant strains was suppressed (i.e. synthetic rescues).
