In cooperation with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK), the U.S. Geological survey (USGS) collected cyanobacterial toxin concentrations (i.e., microcystin, anatoxin, cylindrospermopsin, and saxitoxin) and water-quality field data at 4 sites on the Clinch River from November 2020 to December 2023. The goal for the sample data was to better understand the occurrence and distribution of cyanobacterial toxins in a section of the Clinch River. Sample collection was primarily during the growing season, when harmful algal blooms (HABs) are known to be most active. This data release documents the toxin concentrations and water-quality data produced from the study. The data release is comprised 1 metadata file and 7 tables: Table 1 is a site list of all sites sampled for this study; Table 2 contains all water quality data collected for this study; Table 3 contains anatoxin concetration data from all SPATT samples analyzed for anatoxin during this study; Table 4 contains cylindrospermopsin concetration data from all SPATT samples analyzed for cylindrospermopsin during this study; Table 5 contains microcystin concetration data from all SPATT samples analyzed for microcystin during this study; Table 6 contains microcystin concetration data from all discrete water samples analyzed for microcystin during this study; Table 7 contains saxitoxin concetration data from all SPATT samples analyzed for saxitoxin during this study.
