Genome sequence of the sulfonamide-degrading Microbacterium sp. strain C448. MicrobactGenome C448

Microbacterium sp. strains C448 was isolated from an agricultural soil collected on a long term experiment carried out over the past fifteen years at the experimental farm of Agriculture and AgriFood Canada consisting in regular application to the soil of a wide range of antibiotics, including sulfonamides. Strain C448 demonstrates resistance for various types of sulfonamides but also the capability of using several sulfonamides antibiotics as C source for its growth.
