资源简介:
The goal of this study is to sequence the genome of an oleaginous yeast Meyerozyma guilliermondii PK01 that exhibits the capacity to produce high amounts of lipids, particularly focusing on the underlying genetic pathways responsible for lipid biosynthesis. Oleaginous yeasts are capable of accumulating high amounts of lipids and are of growing attention for their potential applications in biodiesel production, food, and industrial chemicals. By sequencing the genome of this yeast strain, we aim to better understand the molecular mechanisms involving lipid production and accumulation. Our primary objective is to identify key genes involved in the lipid production pathway, including those involved in fatty acid biosynthesis, storage lipid formation, and regulatory networks that control these processes. This will allow us to gain deeper insights into the genetic factors that enhance lipid accumulation in the yeast, laying the groundwork for further metabolic engineering. Through the identification of candidate genes and pathways, we plan to engineer the yeast strain to further improve lipid production yields, optimizing conditions for large-scale cultivation. Additionally, the potential for expanding the utility of this strain beyond lipid production is a key aspect of this project. We intend to explore the possibility of utilizing this strain as a platform for the production of other high-value bio-based products. In summary, this study aims to not only provide a comprehensive genomic resource for the selected oleaginous yeast but also to contribute to the development of advanced microbial platforms for the bioproduction of lipids and other value-added products. Using genomic tools, metabolic engineering, and bioprocess optimization, we aim to improve the efficiency and sustainability of lipid-based industrial processes, supporting the demand for renewable alternatives to petroleum-derived products. Ultimately, this research has the potential to support the development of innovative biotechnological applications with significant industrial and economic impact.
