The contrasting role of fire in shaping landscape genetic patterns of small mammals across two islands

This dataset includes genetic data of three northern Australian native mammals, spatial coordinate data, and landscape variables. We collected genetic samples from across the Tiwi Islands (Bathurst and Melville). Samples of northern brown bandicoots and northern burshtail possums were sent to the external laboratory DArTseq and samples of black-footed treerats were sent to AGRF for extraction and sequencing. We then conducted population genetic analyses to assess genetic diversity and genetic structure of each species across the two islands. Lastly, we conducted a landscape genetic analyses to assess how spatial layers of landscape variables might explain genetic structure patterns.

Data is split into two subfolders: Filtering and population genetics, and ResistanceGA. Both folders contain a further subfolder for each species. ResistanceGA contains an additional folder containing the spatial layers used in the landscape genetic analysis.

# Filtering and populatio genetics: Within the subfolder for each species there is a csv file containing the genetic data (SNPs) and a csv file containing the individual and site metadata. The Treerat folder has genetic data in the form of a vcf file as is returned by AGRF, which was then converted into the csv form to be consistent with the other species. Each species folder also has an rscript with code for conducting filtering and pop gen analyses, and an R object of the final filtered genetic dataset used in further analyses.

# ResistanceGA: Within the subfolder for each species there is a txt file of coordinates for each individual, a csv file of genetic distances between individuals, and a txt file of pairs to include for the fine-scale analysis.For the Bandicoot and Possum folders this is repeated for each island, Treerats are just on Melville Island.Additionally there is a folder of the 12 spatial layers used in the analysis and there is an R script with code for the ResistanceGA analysis.
