The Library Accession Register is a record of all books taken in to the School Library. The information recorded about each book includes: accession number; date received; title, author and publication details; cost; the source of the volume, i.e. the donor of the work or the fund out of which it was purchased; the call number assigned to the work; and the date on which it was transferred, lost or otherwise disposed of. Each page is headed with the name of the school, the date, and the amount of subsidy received for the purchase of volumes on that page.The series from Gangat Public School consists of a single volume, in which are recorded the details of 202 works taken in to the School Library between 1954 and the closure of the school in 1967. The majority of the books were provided by the Parents’ and Citizens’ Association. Entries in the volume are numbered continuously, beginning from “1”.
