Kentucky Electric Service Areas

This map shows the retail electric service areas in the Commonwealth as maintained by the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC). The establishment of geographical service areas for retail electric suppliers, the rights of utilities operating within their own territories, and the requirement of map submission to the PSC are provided for in Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) sections 278.016 to 278.018. The certified territory maps are the legal documents that define the retail electric service area of electric suppliers regulated by the Commission. All of these maps are on file at the PSC. Most of them are USGS topographic maps from the 1980s signed by both utilities and stamped by the Public Service Commission. These were used to compile the boundaries used to make this map. The positions of service area boundaries on this map are estimated to be accurate within 100 feet. These digital boundaries are for informational purposes only, and have no legal standing.
