资源简介:
The Hygiene Promotion and Home Based Water Treatment in Zimbabwe program started in 2009 and will be ending in 2015. The program involves the distribution and promotion of point-of-use water treatment (WaterGuard solution). And it carries out mass media and interpersonal hygiene behavior change communications in order to promote the intended behaviour among the target groups. The main objectives of the program are, (1) to increase correct and consistent point of use water treatment among target population, and (2) increase correct hygienic practices among target population (hand washing and stool disposal). METHODOLOGY The study utilized a two stage cluster study design. In the first stage, enumeration areas (EAs) were randomly selected using probability proportionate to size. EAs are geographic areas used for sampling purposes. In the second stage, households within the selected EAs were selected using simple random sampling. In households where more than one eligible respondent was available, a respondent was randomly selected using the Kish grid method. If there were no people at a select ed household, two callbacks were done before substitution with the adjacent household. At least three callbacks were done before substituting the selected person in selected household. Substitution was also done when the initially selected respondent refused to be interviewed. In the 2008 survey a sample size of 3,386 respondents were interviewed, 2,400 respondents were interviewed in 2009 and 2,218 interviews were conducted in 2011. Analysis was performed using SPSS version 18.0 and results presented in PSI Dashboard format. Analyses consisted of descriptive statistics for key program indicators, logistic regression and or ANOVAs to examine trends over time, to ascertain which scale items are correlated with key behaviors, and to examine the association between program exposure and changes in behaviors and their correlates. Socio-demographic characteristics were controlled for in the analyses.
