With the frequent occurrence of climatic anomalies, spring frost has become a significant limiting factor on wheat production, especially during the reproductive growth stage (after jointing stage). The molecular mechanisms involved in cold tolerance at this sensitive stage in common wheat remain unclear. Sufficient genomic resources and references for this species are unavailable in public databases. A high-throughput sequencing technology was applied to elucidate these mechanisms and to further identify the genes responsive to spring frost.
