Sanqi oral solution ameliorates diabetic nephropathy by modulating the gut microbiota and overall metabolism

Sanqi oral solution has show an ameliorative effect on the development of chronic kidney disease in previous studies. However whether SQ treatment has therapeutic effect on diabetic nephropathy and its mechanism remain unclear.In this study,we used a high-fat diet combined with streptozotocin injection to establish a mouse model of DN,16s rRNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomicswere used to investigate the potential mechanism of SQ on DN. Our findings reveal a potential therapeutic effect of SQ on DN,and its underlying mechanism may be associated with the improvement of GM,thus moderating pyrimidine metabolism, arginine biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism and so on, which provides supporting evidence for the gut-kidney axis in DN.
