Ascochyta versabilis is a fungal pathogen that causes the leaf spot disease of Pseudostellaria heterophylla (Miq.) Pax, a vital Chinese medicinal herbal plant. Here we deployed PacBio SMRT long-reads sequencing technology to generate near-complete genome assembly of A. versabilis KC1 isolate. The high-quality genome sequence and gene annotation resource will facilitate subsequent studies aimed at providing insights into the infection mechanism of A. versabilis, and also support the development of effective control strategies against the leaf spot disease.
