Magicicada septendecula genome sequencing and assembly

This genome assembly was generated to provide a foundation for future research into the evolution of periodical cicadas in the Eastern US, a somewhat enigmatic genus with many questions surrounding speciation mechanisms and life cycle evolution. Being the first complete genome assembly published for a periodical cicada species, this is critical to understanding the relationship between species in the Magicicada genus and learning about the history of their life cycles.
