The work was divided in two campaigns, one of 24 hours, onboard the R/V
Hesperides and other onboard the Vessel Las Palmas.
The data obtained in the 24 hours campaign were:
-3 trawling dredges in the submarine volcano zone Neptune
-Multi channel mosaic with the echo sounder synchronized multi beam EM12-120 y
EM-1000
-High resolution seismic profiles TOPAS PS-018
-Continuous measurements on surface waters (temperature, salinity,
conductivity, fluorescence, sigma-T
-Take of samples in Pendulum Cave with the diving equipment of the R/V
Hesperides to take samples of sulphurs associated with the eruption that
destroyed the Chilean station in 1969
The main scientific activities done onboard the Vessel Las Palmas were:
-To install hydrothermal precipitation cells in the fumaroles areas
-Taking of submarine samples with dredge
-Analysis of strain measurements in faults connect to hydrothermal sediments in
land
-Taking of samplings of mineralizations in land associated with hydrothermal
events
En Espanol:
La accion especial fue dividida en dos campanas, una a bordo del BIO
hesperides con una duracion de 24 horas, y otra a bordo del B/R Las Palmas.
Los datos obtenidos en la campana de tan solo 24 horas son:
-3 dragas de arrastre en la zona del volcan submarino "Neptuno" hasta la averia
del chigre geologico.
-Mosaico de multihaz con las sondas multihaz EM12-120 y EM-1000 sincronizadas.
-Perfiles sismicos de alta resolucion TOPAS PS-018
-Medidas en continuo de datos de aguas superficiales (temperatura, salinidad,
conductividad, fluorimetria, sigma-T)
-Toma de muestra en Caleta Pendulo con el equipo de buceo del BIO Hesperides,
con el objetivo de toma de muestras restos de sulfuros asociados a la erupcion
que destruyo la base chilena e 1969.
Las principales actividades cientificas realizadas a bordo del B/R Las Palmas
fueron:
-Instalacion por buzos del B/R Las Palmas de celdas de precipitacion
hidrotermales en las areas con fumarolas.
-Toma de muestras submarinas con draga en el B/R Las Palmas.
-Analisis de medidas de esfuerzos en fallas asociadas a depositos hidrotermales
en tierra.
-Toma de muestras de mineralizaciones en tierra asociadas a episodios de
hidrotermalismo.
