资源简介:
The Bureau of Reclamation contracted with the Arizona State Museum in June of 1972 to generate an archaeological impact statement on the proposed Granite Reef Aqueduct of the Central Arizona Project. Reach 11 of the Granite Reef Aqueduct passes through Paradise Valley somewhat north of the Phoenix-Mesa metropolitan area. One site, AZ U:5:13(ASM), a surface sherd and lithic scatter, was identified on Reach 11.
In March of 1974 the Arizona State Museum was hired by the Bureau of Reclamation to mitigate the effects of aqueduct construction on AZ U:5:13(ASM)
per the impact statement recommendations. All available archaeological data was collected from the site. Based on the results of the artifact analysis and ethnographic analogy, AZ U:5:13(ASM) was interpreted as a mesquite bean gathering site. It was therefore recommended that unconditional archaeological clearance be granted the Bureau of Reclamation to initiate construction on Reach 11.
