RNAseq for branch development in Shorea leprosula

The goal of this project is to understand the regulation of branch development in the tropical woody perennial Shorea leprosula. To identify genes responsible for the regulation of branch development in this species, we performed RNAseq using leaf and internode samples at three different stages of branch development. The collected leaves and internodes were submerged in RNAlater immediately after harvesting. Total RNA was extracted from each sample using the CTAB method. Sequencing libraries were constructed for the 16 RNAs obtained separately. The libraries were sequenced using the Illumina HiSeq 4000 platform, to generate 150 bp paired-end reads.
