资源简介:
This Microsoft Excel spreadsheet contains the data sets used for construction of Figures S1 to S10 of the manuscript. The file 'data - supplementary figures S1 to S10.xlsx' is divided in 10 sheets accordingly named. Figures S1 to S9 contain the results of video analysis using an automated script developed by the authors to identify the area of the cleaned region generated by a perpendicular coherent impinging water jet, with different nozzle diameters and jet velocities, from the experiments presented in: Kaye, P.L., Pickles, C.S.J., Field, J.E. and Julien, K.S. Investigation of erosion processes as cleaning mechanisms in the removal of thin deposited soils, Wear, 186-187 (1995) 413- 420. DOI: 10.1016/0043-1648 (95)07152-0 The original videos were provided by Dr Peter Kaye. These showed the growth of a cleaned region on a Perspex plate over time following impingement of a water jet. The videos were transferred into MATLAB and analysed using its Image Analysis Toolbox. Figure S10 describes the values of the jet’s traversal velocity as a function of length/width (ratio between the length and width of the trail generated by the moving jet) for the experiments conducted by Kaye et al. (1995) and the model described in the manuscript, for both the strong soil and weak soil regimes, and with different values of the radius when the cleaning front is first seen. These data were obtained by measuring the aspect ratio of the trails generated by the jet from the photographs presented in the Kaye et al. paper and the PhD disseration of Dr PL Kaye.
