Survey of Retirement Village Residents and Managers, 2000

The Survey of Retirement Village Residents and Mangers was conducted to investigate potential roles for the retirement village industry in providing appropriate and affordable housing for an ageing Australian Society. The first survey (the Independent Residents Survey) covered those residents living in independent units with in retirement villages. The second survey (the General Managers Survey) was completed by managers of retirement villages. Residents were asked questions relating to characteristics of their previous residence, (such as type, location, sale price and reasons for moving), as well as their current residence, (including village characteristics, use of services and evaluation of life in the retirement village). Managers were asked questions relating to the physical characteristics of the retirement village and units, historiacal and future developments, ownership of the village, financial outlays for residents, as well as services and facilities provided to residents.
