Forecasted market value of the wine industry in Canada 2014-2019

The value of the wine market in Canada was forecast to reach approximately 10.85 billion Canadian dollars by 2019, an increase in over 2.7 billion Canadian dollars since 2014. This market value translates to an estimated market volume of over 590 million liters in 2019. As of December 2018, there were 477 wineries across Canada to support the growing market. Wine preferences in Canada A number of factors come into play when purchasing wine including grape variety, origin, price and recommendations. According to a recent survey, over one quarter of Canadian respondents stated that they preferred red wine. White wine ranked in second place with just over 21 percent of the vote. There was also a clear preference when it comes to wine origin - Canadian wine was the favorite of almost one quarter of respondents in the same survey. Around 16 percent of respondents preferred wine originating from Europe.
