Data of controls of soil respiration in the global croplands

We analyzed field studies from various croplands across the globe to understand the factors affecting soil respiration (Rs). Specifically, we emphasized how soil climatic factors such as soil temperature and moisture, and their interactions in different climatic regions, influence the magnitude of Rs in croplands. Additionally, we investigated how tillage practices interact with these soil conditions. We extracted Rs records from 102 published studies, yielding 362 records, in S1 (Soil Respiration Record S1.csv). From the studies in S1, 34 field experiments measured continuous or discrete Rs and instantaneous soil temperature and moisture values of the top layer (0-5 cm to 0-15 cm), resulting in datapoints in S2 (Soil Respiration S2.csv). The Rs values in both datasets are expressed as gram carbon dioxide per square meter per day (g CO2 m-2 d-1) before performing the analyses in our study.
