Danish Neutrality Survey, 1956

The purpose of the survey is to examine people's attitudes to and opinions as regards a number of questions on international relations as well as certain problems connected with media re- search. The most important issues examined are: # #- Denmark's most important domestic problems (economy, unem- ployment, peace, taxes, exchange-rate relations and foreign trade, price development, housing situation, national unity, a new Government, old-age pension); #- Denmark's most important problems relating to foreign affairs (co-operation with other countries, foreign trade, peace, military co-operation within NATO, exchange-rate relations, improvement of the relations with the East bloc countries, neutrality and independence, dangers from the East, the rela- tions with Germany, South Schleswig); #- NATO: the impact of the organization on the security of Denmark and Western Europe, future perspectives of NATO as regards tasks and member states, German rearmament and the stationing of German officers in NATO countries; #- Denmark's international position and influence (dependence on other countries, e.g. Great Britain, the USA, France, Sweden, the Soviet Union and Germany, and influence in international organizations); #- Scandinavian co-operation (economic, military, political, cul- tural), including the Nordic Council and a possible Scandinavian common market; #- the respondent's sources of information: radio, newspapers, talks, contact with people from other parts of the country, contact with people from other countries, and the respondent's assessment of these sources of information; #- the respondent's knowledge and impression of the conditions in the USA, the Soviet Union and Great Britain; #- the respondent's attitude to a number of statements on American and Russian foreign policy; #- whether the respondent ever listens to a number of foreign radio stations: the BBC, Voice of America, Moscow/Leningrad, Stock- holm and American Forces Network
