search for a dominant mutation responsible for persistent truncus arteriosis in the progreny of a mosaic bull

Here we sequenced the genome of a male calf affected by persistent truncus arteriosis (PTA) that was sire by a bull showing high juvenile mortality rates and numerous cases of PTA in its progreny. After mapping the locus to a 8 Mb segments on BTA24 we filtered the variants found in this genome with those present in run 9 of the 1000 bull genome project and finally identified a nonsense mutation in a strong candidate gene.
