Investigating the Influence of Perinatal Fluoxetine Exposure on Murine Gut Microbial Communities during Pregnancy and Early Lactation

The purpose of this project was to investigate whether maternal selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor exposure affects the offspring gut microbiome in a murine model. Twenty-two C57BL6/J mice were dosed 10 mg/kg fluoxetine (SSRI) or saline (control) daily via subcutaneous injection from embryonic day 10 to weaning at lactation day 21. Offspring stool was collected at lactation day 11, 15 and 21. Samples were sequenced for 16s rRNA.
