Abiotic stress responses of aldehyde dehydrogenase mutants in moss Physcomitrium patens focused on members linked to the GABA shunt pathway

We constructed three moss aldh5F2, aldh10A1 and aldh21A1 knockouts to obtain complementary information on the importance of each family for the regulation of GABA shunt and levels of metabolites in TCA cycle. Overall design: Physcomitrium patens "Grandsen 2004" WT and three independent mutant lines of chosen ALDH genes were cultivated in modified Knop medium, enriched with trace element solution, vitamins and tartrate with 1% plant Agar and 300mM NaCl in 24-well plates.
