资源简介:
European broiler farmers are challenged by increasingly stringent EU regulations to improve the sustainability of their farming systems, including the protection of the environment from pollution and meeting animal welfare standards. Profitability is a significant component of the economic sustainability of a farm and is the first parameter an agricultural entrepreneur seeks to enhance. Economic sustainability can be considered as the ability to achieve higher profits while respecting social and natural resources whereas economic resilience is focused on keeping economic sustainability in the long term through a process of resistance, adaptation or even transformation against external stresses. This exploratory study is focused on the analysis of the economic resilience as part of the economic evaluation methodology and is aimed at demonstrating the correlation between technical and resilience parameters. Productive and economic performances of a sample of eighteen farms are analysed, and economic resilience is assessed through selected indicators, belonging to different themes: [i] resilience of resources, [ii] entrepreneurship, [iii] propensity to extensification. Quantitative data relating to production and economic indicators are used to assess the context of the farms sampled in this study. Qualitative data from the questionnaire provides an overview on the three areas of economic resilience of both intensive and extensive farms.
