<p>Experiments were conducted to quantify the effects of dhurrin metabolism on stay-green drought tolerance of&nbsp;sorghum. Near isogenic lines (NILs) and near isogenic hybrids (NIHs) with contrasting&nbsp;dhurrin production characteristics were examined under post-flowering drought conditions in&nbsp;controlled and a field production environments.&nbsp;A reduction in chlorophyll content&nbsp;in the dhurrin-free genotype was only noted in&nbsp;one genetic background indicating a genotype-specific response. These studies did&nbsp;not indicate a strong causal relationship between dhurrin biosynthesis and expression of stay-green drought tolerance.</p>
