Ictidomys tridecemlineatus (thirteen-lined ground squirrel) genome, mIctTri1, sequence data

The thirteen-lined ground squirrel (Ictidomys tridecemlineatus) is a species of hibernating ground squirrel that is widely distributed over grasslands and prairies of North America (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual from New Haven, Connecticut was collected by Luke Olsen and coordinated by Olsen and Paul Cohen at the Rockefeller University and Elena Gracheva at the Yale School of Medicine to generate a high-quality reference genome for an adipose physiology project and to be contributed to the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
