METSIM Subcutaneous adipose needle biopsy ATAC-seq

This subcutaneous adipose ATAC-Seq dataset derived from small needle or surgical biopsies is part of the third release of the METabolic Syndrome In Men (METSIM) study (phs000743). These data were generated to identify open chromatin regions in adipose tissue. The tissue donors are a subset of the initial 10,197 participants in the METSIM population cohort from Kuopio, Finland. Small needle or surgical biopsies were collected specifically for research purposes, not secondary to another surgery, and samples were snap frozen at -80 degreesC. We used either the original or omni-ATAC protocol to profile chromatin accessibility in 19 adipose samples for 17 participants; two participants had two ATAC-seq libraries that passed QC.
