Outer Continental Shelf Active Renewable Energy Leases - Wind Leases
Outer Continental Shelf Active Renewable Energy Leases - Wind Leases This National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) dataset, shared as a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) feature layer, displays active renewable wind energy leases on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) of the United States. Per USDOE, “Offshore wind resources are abundant, stronger, and more consistent than land-based wind resources. Data on the technical resource potential suggest there are more than 4,000 gigawatts (GW) of capacity, or 13,500 terawatt hours (TWh) of generation, per year in state and federal waters along the coasts of the United States and the Great Lakes. While not all of this resource potential will realistically be developed, the magnitude—approximately 3 times the combined generating capacity of all U.S. electric power plants—represents a substantial opportunity to generate electricity near coastal, high-density population centers.” Block Island Shelf Renewable Wind Energy Lease Number OCS-A 0520 Data currency: current federal service (Wind Leases) NGDAID: 17 (Outer Continental Shelf Active Renewable Energy Leases) For more information: Renewable Energy For feedback please contact: Esri_US_Federal_Data@esri.com NGDA Theme Community This data set is part of the NGDA Cadastre Theme Community. Per the Federal Geospatial Data Committee (FGDC), Cadastre is defined as the "past, current, and future rights and interests in real property including the spatial information necessary to describe geographic extents. Rights and interests are benefits or enjoyment in real property that can be conveyed, transferred, or otherwise allocated to another for economic remuneration. Rights and interests are recorded in land record documents. The spatial information necessary to describe geographic extents includes surveys and legal description frameworks such as the Public Land Survey System, as well as parcel-by-parcel surveys and descriptions. Does not include federal government or military facilities." For other NGDA Content: Esri Federal Datasets
