This study characterized the maternal and infant gut microbiome/metabolome/resistome. We preliminarily identified the associations of trace elements exposure (e.g., manganese, copper, and selenium) with the dynamics of infant gut microbial diversity, composition, and metabolites. We also found that metals may be implicated in shaping the profiles of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in the infant gut.Adonis analysis was used to identify differences in beta diversity between mother and infant groups, and between different stratified infant groups.The chord diagram (with Spearman analysis) demonstrated the effects of prenatal exposure to trace elements exposure on infant metabolites at different postpartum visits.
