High seed losses in mountain birch (<i>Betula pubescens</i> ssp. <i>tortuosa</i>) and developmental, ecological, and environmental correlates

These data were collected for and used in the research article titled "High seed losses in mountain birch (Betula pubescens ssp. tortuosa) and developmental, ecological, and environmental correlates". Authors: Guðrún Óskarsdóttir, Thóra E. Thórhallsdóttir, Kristín Svavarsdóttir. The data describes seed counts and visual appearance for the sampled seed rain and soil seed bank of a mountain birch (Betula pubescens ssp. tortuosa) population on Skeiðarársandur glacial outwash plain in southeast Iceland, as well as the visual appearance, germination, development, and size of seeds sampled from trees. Data were gathered from 2017 to 2020, but the intensity of sampling, seed handling, and inclusion of data from neighbouring populations for comparison varies between years.
