Hearth/fire pit fill samples from sites CrNV-11-14170, CrNV-11-14197, and CrNV-11-14923 in Elko County, Nevada, were floated to recover charred macrofloral remains. Firecracked rock recovered from the macrofloral samples were tested for organic residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Charcoal or charred botanic material from each of the three macrofloral samples was submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating to provide temporal information about use of these features. Macrofloral and organic residue analyses provide information on culturally utilized materials, specifically those related to diet, including foods processed at these sites.
