Result of A Smart Tool for Teaching and Learning Database Normalization Through Interactive Methods

Database normalization is essential for ensuring data integrity and reducing redundancy in relational databases. However, this topic remains a challenge for students and novice designers, who often find it difficult to understand its full scope and practical importance. In addition, many existing normalization tools fail to provide the features necessary for effective teaching and hands-on learning, particularly in areas such as interactive guidance and identifying functional dependency (FD). To fill these gaps, this paper presents a smart normalization tool that integrates a powerful set of functions. The tool significantly improved students' understanding of database normalization, as demonstrated by expert evaluations and significant improvements in pre- and post-test scores. These results support the tool's potential as an effective pedagogical tool in database education.
