Between December 2017 and January 2020 three mecC-MRSA were detected from two horses and a veterinarian in Hungary. The latter was an asymptomatic carrier and the attending veterinarian of one of the infected horses. The isolates were whole genome sequenced to investigate their genetic relatedness. In this study we report the first mecC-MRSA isolates of human and equine origin in Hungary and the first animal-to-human mecC-MRSA transmission described in the country.
