The Significance of Serious Judicial Bullying

Judicial bullying will not always be serious and sustained. But it will sometimes be. Then, it will not only be interpersonally unjust. It will have a deeper significance. The law’s most basic purpose is to lift individuals from the domination of public officials and others. Judges are afforded their authority just to uphold the law. What we call judicial bullying can involve the misuse of that authority to dominate others — to lower those others to a peculiar state of domination, under public power. The behaviour, and associated sexual behaviours, are more significant than they seem.
