To identify genetic modifications underlying wheat’s domestication requires knowledge about the genome of its allo-tetraploid progenitor, wild emmer (T. turgidum ssp. dicoccoides). Five size-selected genomic DNA libraries ranging from 450 bp to 10 kb were sequenced to generate a total of 2.1 Tb of data (equivalent to 176x coverage, based on an estimated genome size of 12 Giga base).The final assembly of wild tetraploid wheat consisted of the 14 chromosomes (10.1 total length).
