Interest demands of reservoir resettlers and their influencing factors under vision of common prosperity: taking Three Gorges immigrants in Zhejiang Province as an example

Deep concern for and effective responses to the interests and demands of reservoir resettlers are not only feasible approaches to strengthen their livelihood resilience and promote their social integration, but also an inherent part of achieving common prosperity under the Chinese path to modernization. Based on empirical investigations of Three Gorges resettlers in Zhejiang Province, this study comprehensively analyzes the interests and demands of resettlers and their influencing factors using the entropy weight method, binary Logistic regression, and multinomial Logistic regression models. The results indicate that the interests and demands of reservoir resettlers can be categorized into employment improvement demands, rights protection demands, environmental optimization demands, and community integration demands. The influencing factors can be classified into individual, family, and social dimensions. Among the factors explaining the transition from no demands to a single demand, the gender of the household head and annual income at the individual level have a significant negative impact on interest demands, while the type of employer shows a significant positive impact. At the social level, both financial loans and pension insurance have a significant positive effect on the interests and demands. Regarding the shift from no demands to multiple demands, the gender and education level of the household head demonstrate a significant negative impact, whereas age and type of employer exhibit a significant positive influence. Therefore, to effectively address the interests and demands of reservoir resettlers, it is essential to deeply stimulate the agency of resettlers through "capacity enhancement", fully leverage the leading role of government departments through "policy guarantees", and actively mobilize the synergy of social forces through "value guidance", thereby effectively advancing the realization of the common prosperity vision.
