资源简介:
Phenyl sulfate is a kind of uremic toxin involved in the progression of kidney dysfunction, and the precursor; phenol is found to be metabolized from dietary amino acid; L-tyrosine by gut bacterial enzymes. Inhibition of the accumulation of phenyl sulfate would become the novel strategy to prevent kidney dysfunction. Our study revealed that some of the sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)-related compounds inhibited phenol production by representative gut bacteria. Especially, sesamol strongly inhibited the enzymes related to phenol production, so oral administration of sesamol would contribute to prevent the disease. In this study, the effects of sesamol administration on the fecal microbiota structures were comprehensively investigated in mice.
