THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) ERA: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PAKISTAN AND THE GLOBAL SOUTH

This study will investigate why AI (Artificial Intelligence) is considered a threat to global security and how Global South states, focusing on the state of Pakistan in South Asia, can address the challenges and opportunities revealed by AI’s influence on global security, which has become a concern in international relations. AI. This research will utilize a qualitative methodology to examine the part and consequences of AI on global security and explore potential ways in which rising regional powers of the global south, among other states. Through the lens of the structural realism hypothesis, especially drawing on the work of essential structural realist scholars, this study will characterize and apply concepts such as hegemony, security dilemma, offensive and defensive realism, absolute relative gains, chain gaining, buck-passing, bandwagon and hedging to the background of emerging powers in international relations. The significance of this study lies in its potential to supply a future vision to meet upcoming challenges and opportunities. It will help policymakers to prepare for upcoming challenges and opportunities for the best national interest of the state of Pakistan among other global south nations in the era of AI. The research findings will provide the vision for a new approach (AI warfare), will be helpful for policymakers, and will fill gaps within the currently available literature.
