Volume of bike imports in the United States 2015-2020

In 2020, over 17 million bicycles were imported into the United States. This is a year-on-year increase of around 16 percent compared to 2019 when trade was negatively impacted by an uncertainty about tariffs on Chinese imports. While first quarter sales in 2020 were affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic, the market recovered by the fourth quarter of that same year. There was an increase of over 86 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the same period one year earlier.
