JSMel: A Dataset of 960 Song Melodies Widely Shared in Contemporary Japan

In this repository, only the metadata of JSMel and the melody data of public domain (PD) songs are made publicly available. Melody data for songs that remain under copyright protection (non-PD songs) are not publicly released.

Access to melody data for non-PD songs is granted solely to researchers who have signed a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and is limited to non-commercial academic research purposes. The application form for requesting access is available via the “Related link” section of this repository. Researchers wishing to obtain access must send an email to the corresponding author (RM) describing the research objectives, intended use of the data, and data management procedures. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt. Access may be denied if the proposed use does not align with the intended scope of the dataset or its stated terms of use.
