Period-specific information National accounts input-output tables: Year ended March 2024 are consistent with National accounts (industry production and investment): Year ended March 2024. The current tables use the Annual enterprise survey: 2024 financial year as a main data source, but use many other data sources to estimate product data. There are nine input-output tables in this release. See User guide for National accounts input-output tables: Year ended March 2024 for the explanatory notes on how the tables can be used. Improvements This release incorporates improvements to national accounts statistics since the previous input-output tables release for the year ended March 2020. Details of the improvements from year ended March 2021 are available in preview of national accounts improvements. CDC survey Due to resource constraints, the CDC survey has been on hold since 2016. This has limited the extent to which we can reflect structural changes since the March 2013 tables. Commodity updates have been made using sources such as Annual Enterprise Survey, the Household Economic Survey, imports and exports data, and specific industry sources such as the Information and Communications Technology Survey. Data limitations Because of limited commodity data, a negative value appeared for household final consumption expenditure in the inter-industry transactions table (Table 4). This occurred when exports exceeded domestic supply or re-exports exceeded imports. These imbalances could not be fully reconciled because of insufficient information about the units producing or re-exporting the commodities. The largest impact on this relates to NA06CC 339.00 Other petroleum products, specifically the purchase of jet fuel by non-resident airlines. While these transactions could be treated as re-exports, the information needed to make a robust adjustment was not available within the production timeframe. An estimate was made of the maximum impact—this indicated that the greatest effect on coefficients was for II123 Air and space transport industry, and none of those effects were significantly story changing in terms of economic meaning. A negative value appeared for central government final consumption expenditure in the use table (Table 2). This resulted from an industry misclassification of services for own use in the supply table. Data users can continue to use the existing data, as the negative values are insignificant and do not affect the reliability of the input-output tables overall. en-NZ
