Protective effects of phenylethanol glycosides from Cistanche tubulosa against ALD through modulating gut microbiota homeostasis. We aim to investigate whether phenylethanol glycosides from Cistanche tubulosa (CPhGs) have the potential to enhance the therapeutic outcome of ALD by targeting the "gut-liver axis" from the perspective of Chinese herbs influencing the gut microbiota to improve the disease.ALD mice are accompanied by significant gut microbiota dysbiosis compared with the pair diet group.It is probable that CPhGs have a synergistic protective effect on ALD by modulating the abundance and composition of Akkermansia and Allobaculum within the intestines, maintaining intestinal mucus balance, and safeguarding the integrity of the intestinal barrier.
