Nigaristan (RAS Persian 352) of Muʻīn Juvaynī Nasta'liq. 292 folios. 17 lines to the page. Size 9 by 5 ins (23 x 12 cm). Incipit: Hamd u sipas khuday-ra kih thaqiyyatish [sic? for azaliyyatish] az simat bidayat munazzah ast F1a: a) Large round seal of Sharaf servant (banda) of Shah Jahan Padshah dated A.H. 1037 (1627-8) and regnal year one. [Not of Shah Jahan himself.] An associated note has been defaced. b) Small oval seal: Sharaf al-adam bil-khatam, undated. c) Defaced impressions of two seals and a note. Final folio, verso: Note dated 1065 (1654-5) recording a reading of the MS, partially defaced. This is probably connected with a number of marginal note and textual corrections, mostly early in the MS. Final flyleaf, verso, optimistic description of the MS and prices: £2-20-0, then £1-10-0 Brown leather European-style binding. Headings and punctuation in red. Red ruled margins. Illuminated panel over beginning of text, the central portion cut out and then patched with a piece of paper tinted pink and with gilt scrolling.
